Summer in Byron Bay

Byron Bay

I’ve just started settling back into work after spending the Christmas break relaxing in Byron Bay and Melbourne with Ryan and our friends Mark and Mon. Traveling with a group is always more fun! Here’s a peek into our Summer break full of aperol, trips to the beach and snoozes.

Wanderlust

I’m currently in full swing in planning my 2015 holiday. I’m going to take three months off around August to feed my soul through art, culture and nature with an around the world ticket. While three months is quite a while, it’s still not enough time to scratch the surface of this amazing planet.

For now, I’m just trying to narrow down my list. The travel photography on Pinterest is just out of this world and always gives me a huge feeling of wanderlust each time I scroll through my feed.

I can’t wait to see New York in “the fall”, swim in the ocean at Big Sur, eat some Gelato in Rome, go hiking in Switzerland, picnic near the Eiffel Tower, eat real Mexican food in Mexico and experience the intensity of a Marrakesh souk. Do you have any recommendations? Any must sees?

Sekeping Serendah Retreat

SekepingSerendah1

This weekend while I was doing the very exciting chore of digging out grass, I couldn’t help but find myself day dreaming of being anywhere else. It’s been a while since I looked at my photos from the Sekeping Serendah Retreat just outside of Kuala Lumpur, which Ryan and I went to after a month of roughing it in Borneo (we even climbed Mount Kinabalu!) for some rest and relaxation. We stayed in a glass hut in the jungle for three nights before heading onto busy KL.

There is no electricity, no fancy restaurants, and no wifi at Sekeping Serendah, which was just what we wanted. We went for walks to the nearby waterfall, admired nature at it’s best (hello monkeys and pitcher plants!), swam in their stunning pool, and had simple meals brought to us by the caretakers. It really gave us time to wind down after such a full on month. SekepingSerendah13 SekepingSerendah12
