I just finished reading my first book of the year, Amy Poehler’s Yes Please (I’m going to read at least 12 books this year). The book is well designed, charming, hilarious and inspiring (go read it!) and I particularly enjoyed her quote, ‘great people do things before they’re ready’.
I designed this quote using the free script font Reis (which you can find here) and Quicksand.
I remember the first time I read this quote by David Allen and I felt a bit deflated. I actually WANT to do everything! I want to learn to sew, knit, macrame; I want to learn another language (Mi piaci il gelato (I like icecream) is about as much Italian I know); I want to travel to every inch of the world and eat at every restaurant possible; I want to swim at every beach and visit every museum. To be honest, I also wouldn’t mind getting around to properly giving my house a good Spring clean (and it’s almost Summer so I think I have missed that boat).
I’m slowing learning to not overload myself and take each day as it comes (with some healthy travel planning thrown into the mix).
I have designed this quote using the free font Quicksand. I love how light and open it is, with its beautiful and understated curves. You can download it here.
Finding a good free font can be challenging and I often get asked which are my favourites to use. I’ve decided to share a free font every Friday that I have used over the years, or that have recently grabbed my attention.
This week’s free font Infinity, created by Tarin Yuangtrakul, was created with the simplicity of lines and curves and have a focus on round corner and caps. I sure do love a light weight font. You can download Infinty here.
I’ve used Infinity in the graphic above, which I designed as a bit of a reminder to myself. It’s been pretty rough around here since Jack left us almost three weeks ago. Sure, those clouds hang around, but it’s lovely when the sun comes out.
