Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Peanut butter & pumpkin dog treats

Peanut butter & pumpkin dog treats

I’m sure this post is going to do nothing for my crazy dog lady status, but I find making homemade dog treats strangely fulfilling; they’re cheaper, better for the environment and I can use my leftover pumpkin from a vegetable lasagne I’ve been cooking lately. I doubled the batch this time to be able to gift one jar to one of my friend’s cute dog.

Jack is obsessed with these biscuits and will basically do his best to steal them from my hand. Evidence below.

The recipe is really easy and they’re pretty quick to whip up.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups wholemeal flour
1 1/2 tspns baking powder
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup pumpkin, cooked & mashed
1/2 cup hot water

Method
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Mix the flour and baking powder together in one bowl and in another bowl, mix the peanut butter, pumpkin and hot water.
Mix the flour into the peanut butter & pumpkin mixture and slightly need.
Cut into the size you’d like (I used a small bone shaped cookie cutter).
Place on a lined baking tray and cook for 20mins.
Wait until they cool before storing or giving to your pup!

Store them in the fridge. They’ll only last up to a week or two… so make sure you treat your pups often!

Well after reading your recipe Caitlin and I made Chloe, Bella and Jack some from a Thermomix recipe, they even smell like dog treats! Our window cleaner wanted to know what was cooking, he was told dog biscuits which shocked him. Bella and Chloe loved them!
