PUBLIC \ Urban Art in Perth

Maya Hayuk Wolf Lane for Public

Some of the best known urban artists have been transforming blank walls all across Perth over the last week for PUBLIC, from locals like Stormie Mills and Anya Brock to international artists like ROA, Phlegm, Alexis Diaz, Hyuro and Pixel Pancho. I always feel that street art just pops up overnight without ever seeing the artist, so I was very excited that I was going to have the opportunity to watch the artists do their thing. Only a few weeks ago I was admiring Maya Hayuk’s mural at the Bowery Hotel in New York and thinking how great it was, and now we have one here!

Seeing as a lot of the pieces were works in progress, I’m looking forward for my next visit into the city to see how some of the masterpieces ended up. I would love to see this as an annual event… we do have a lot of blank walls after all.
