Palm Springs

Palm Springs

I had wanted to go to Palm Springs for a few years after seeing many awesome photos of the Ace Hotel and Swim Club. I loved it’s mid-century design, I loved how I thought it would feel (warm and sunny – we ended up being there in Winter so it was cool and sunny) and I loved how each room had been individually styled. Needless to say, I was so happy when I stepped onto the grounds and got to enjoy it in person. One of the highlights of the Ace was playing Sissy Bingo with Linda Gerard and drinking cocktails with Ryan. How old do we think we are?

The weather was a bit cool, so I didn’t get to sit poolside as often as I would have hoped, but we managed to keep ourselves busy. Visiting vintage shops (where I found the biggest collection of brooches and colourful glassware), checking out Marilyn and PeeWee’s dinosaur in nearby Cabazon, taking the aerial tramway up the mountain to have fun in the snow (this is where I realised my boots had holes!), stuffing our faces at Norma’s at the Parker Hotel and driving around town with our ‘architour’ map enjoying the mid-century homes and their perfectly manicured desert gardens. Palm Springs was the perfect backdrop for celebrating my 26th birthday.

Feeling a lot nervous on the way up the mountain.
